Since I have been on the Board of Education, Orange Unified School District is on a positive course!

• OUSD boasts highly qualified, experienced teachers and support staff.

• The School District has an ambitious strategic plan, developed with broad community participation from parents, teachers, students, business and community members to continue to increase student achievement, while providing safe and welcoming schools, improving student engagement, providing ongoing communication and partnership with our parents and community, and always ensuring wise use of tax dollars.

• Test scores, especially in science, are going up throughout the district.

• Responsible fiscal management has yielded prudent budgets in response to devastating cuts in state funding.

• OUSD consistently earns top financial ratings from the Orange County Department of Education and from national financial institutions.

• Our teachers are using exciting new programs to teach math, writing, science and technology, and using data to make instruction fit students’ needs.

• Orange Unified has a model program of high school online courses providing students with motivating and challenging academic experiences.

• Fifteen more OUSD schools have earned California Distinguished School status.

• Newsweek and the Orange County Register have recognized several of our high schools on their lists of best schools.

I am honored to have played a part in these exciting developments and I am eager to continue my efforts to assure that Orange Unified provides the quality and excellence in education that our students and our community deserve. I need your support to make that happen.
